Venture Partnerships
Request
for Proposals
United
Way of Dutchess County is pleased to announce the availability of about
$13,000 to support one Venture Partnership to support non-profit human
service providers and their corporate and funding partners in responding
to community catastrophes and emerging needs or opportunities. Emphasis
will be placed on initiatives that cross multiple basic needs and involve
multiple service strategies or disciplines.
Characteristics
of a desirable Venture Partnership:
- Addresses
a community catastrophe (emergencies affecting a significant portion
of the population, such as a tornado, terrorist act, etc. or emergencies
affecting delivery of basic human needs services, such as a fire in
a homeless shelter) or emerging need/ opportunity (previously unidentified
needs that are emerging because of changes in community conditions;
new programs that address current needs in a potentially significant
way)
- Leverages
funding from multiple sources; attracts funding from outside Dutchess
County
- Brings
together corporate and other funding partners with non-profit organizations
- Makes
a previously unavailable resource accessible to non-profits and the
people they serve, especially a corporate resource or proven state
or national model
- Makes
an immediate, measurable impact in the lives of people in Dutchess
County particularly in ventures not being addressed through Community
Impact initiatives
- Project
duration of less than one year
Eligibility
criteria:
- Provide
signed documentation from fiscal agent that they are acting in this
role for the collaborative group.
- Be
able to meet all agreement (contract) requirements.
- Provide
or promote equal opportunity and access for all without regard to
race, creed, color, religion, marital status, sexual orientation,
disability, sex, age, national origin or membership status in the
collaborative.
Restrictions:
This grant will not fund:
- Scholarships
or grants to individuals.
- On-going
support of a program.
- Funding
to establish a new non-profit organization.
- Sponsorships
and event support for on-going projects.
- Capital
campaigns or purchase of equipment over $2,500.
- Resources
to benefit the collaborative as an entity such as office or meeting
space; marketing or membership materials; strategic planning; filing
for incorporation; hiring a coalition director or administrative support
person; fund development activities for the collaborative; and training,
technical assistance or consultants for any of these purposes.
- Expansion
of existing services without regard to the efficiency of services
already being delivered.
Process
and deadlines:
United
Way can accept completed applications at any time. Staff and volunteers
will review applications and communicate with applicants at least quarterly.
- It
is suggested that you confirm receipt of the application form as United
Way is not responsible for any misdirected materials.
