Children & Teens

IMPROVING THE SAFETY AND EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND TEENS

These needs were identified in the county-wide 2002 Community Needs assessment. With your increased support to the United Way Community Fund, we can work together to address even more of these needs, in an even more effective manner. Thank you.

KEY AREAS:

  • Quality day care that focuses on education and socialization
  • Meaningful after school programs with an emphasis on education, literacy and life skills
  • Continued academic enrichment for pre-school through elementary aged children
  • Life planning skills for 13-16 year olds to prepare them for independent, productive lives
  • Reducing drug abuse among adolescents, particularly the 13-16 year age range
  • Literacy skill-building woven throughout these programs
