FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
The
Foundation for Community Health (initially funded with the net assets of the conversion
of Sharon Hospital) has joined The Community Foundation of Dutchess County, The
Dyson Foundation, and United Way of Dutchess County, in a collaborative grant
program to provide quality of life services, with a focus on transportation, to
the isolated elderly in Dutchess County. A $59,459 grant from The Foundation for
Community Health is part of a three-year commitment for a van that will operate
out of the North East Community Center in Millerton, NY and provide transportation
for Amenia seniors to medical appointments and other quality of life destinations
in northeast Dutchess County.
With
this grant, the FCH joins this collaborative that recently awarded a second round
of grants. In addition to the first grants made by the collaborative, The Community
Foundation of Dutchess County, United Way of Dutchess County, and The Dyson Foundation
contributed $105,000 more to the effort ($35,000 from each agency), and combined
