Basic Needs

Over 18,000 people in Dutchess County, 5,000 of them children, live in poverty; as many as 16,000 more risk falling into poverty. Approximately 40% of our grant dollars help people meet their basic needs during a personal crisis or following a disaster.

  • Your donations supported 26,477 people who received food & basic necessities at 23 food programs throughout the county.
  • Your support ensured that the 5,562 people who called 2-1-1 from Dutchess County received the information they needed.
  • FamilyWize prescription drug cards saved a total of almost $27,000 on 1,994 prescriptions filled in the county.
  • You provided support for 939 women & children escaping a violent situation.
  • 2,314 people received medical care thanks to you.
  • 550 people received utility assistance, mostly in the coldest months.
