Community Assessment
In 2007, United Way of Dutchess County completed a Community Assessment which helped us determine our three focus areas and the outcomes for success in these areas.
These areas are:
- Preparing Young Children for Success
- Providing Basic Needs
- Promoting Financial Stability
The Community Assessment also showed us that the need for help stretches far beyond the main cities of our county, and therefore your United Way now ensures that food and other programs throughout the county receive our support.
In researching this assessment, United Way sought input from a number of places: annual reports from other funders and government sources, a statistical review of data about our population, focus group results, phone surveys, written surveys, and multiple other sources. An important part of our learning came from reviewing the results of assessments and surveys that others had performed and studying the direction in which they were heading.
