United Way of Dutchess County Reaches $1.7 Million 2009 Campaign Goal
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The United Way of Dutchess County announced that it reached its $1.7 million 2009 Campaign fundraising goal at a finale event at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel Thursday attended by key campaign leaders and supporters.
“We are pleased that we reached our goal during these difficult economic times for many in our community,” said Dr. Daniel Z. Aronzon, United Way of Dutchess County’s Chair of the Board of Governors, and President and CEO of Vassar Brothers Medical Center. “So many individuals and organizations worked together in the campaign to aid our friends, neighbors and our families in Dutchess County.”
The annual 12-week campaign began in mid-September. It raises Community Fund dollars that are used to support partnerships with more than 30 community organizations that help United Way meet its mission to make measurable improvements in the lives of Dutchess County residents.
The funded partnership programs provide families and individuals with their basic needs, help them attain financial stability and prepare their young children for success – three United Way priorities determined through an extensive community-wide assessment.
“While our goal has been reached and reflects the donations and pledges received to date,” said 2009 Campaign Chair Tyrone Muse, who is also CFO of Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, “cash, pledges and stock gifts will continue to come in right into the new year.”
Thursday’s finale also recognized the top supporting companies and organizations in this year’s Community Fund campaign and those that ran their first workplace campaign in 2009. In addition, the campaign team made up of more than 250 employee campaign managers who encourage pledges and donations in Dutchess County workplaces and 18 Loaned Executives from companies and nonprofits who promote the campaign and 14 Campaign Leaders Team members were recognized.
“A huge difference will be made in the lives of many here in our community because of the kindness of each donor.” said Anne M. Beaulieu, President and CEO of United Way Dutchess County. “Our funded partners are receiving more requests this year for assistance as the needs in our community continue to grow. As always, we will do our best to meet those needs thanks to the generosity of our Dutchess County community.”
