Touch-A-Truck 2010
Young Leaders United presents 2nd Annual Touch-A-Truck
Fundraiser for United Way of Dutchess County
Family-friendly Event Set for June 6 at Dutchess County Fairgrounds
Young Leaders United is looking for owners of a wide variety of vehicles to participate in its 2nd annual Touch-A-Truck fundraiser for United Way of Dutchess County on Sunday, June 6 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck. Tickets are $5.00 online or at the door.
Last year, this family-friendly event featured over 40 vehicles and drew more than 1,500 attendees.
“We hope to have all types of vehicles from a helicopter, a fire truck, an ambulance and a tank to 18-wheelers, milk delivery and moving trucks, to front-loader tractors and other construction equipment and even a boat for children to explore, climb on and pretend to drive,” said Mariel Dreispel Gil, co-chair of Young Leaders United. “We really like doing this event. It is a great afternoon for the entire family. Children from as young as 2 years old up had so much fun climbing all over the trucks and blowing their horns.”
This year’s goal is to attract more than 2,000 attendees to the Touch-A-Truck event with more for the families to do. “We hope to provide a free showcase of activities including child car seat checks, child identification registration, fire safety tips and an opportunity for parents to learn how to help young children reach their developmental milestones,” said United Way of Dutchess County President and CEO Anne M. Beaulieu.
