A new matchmaking initiative to recruit and connect volunteers with area nonprofit opportunities is being launched by Hands On! The Hudson Valley with a $50,000 grant from United Way of Dutchess County.
The partnership’s goal is to expand Hands On! The Hudson Valley’s existing service by engaging more area businesses and individuals in the recruitment of volunteers and then matching registered volunteers with area nonprofits so that they can expand their service capacities. HOHV will work closely with United Way of Dutchess to identify and contact businesses to help in the recruitment effort.
Want to Volunteer?
Potential volunteers can register online at the HOHV website to volunteer in a wide range of roles including advocacy, counseling, meal delivery, tutoring, grant writing or driving individuals to health care appointments. Available opportunities are varied with organizations that serve the needs of children, adults or the elderly in Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Sullivan counties.
Studies show that volunteer hours, valued at $28.04 per hour for each volunteer,
add up and save donor dollars allowing more money to go to much needed services in our community.
Currently HOHV has 1,666 volunteers and 146 nonprofit organizations in the Hudson Valley registered and it hopes to recruit more through this new effort.
